Drawing heavily on local traditions, the whole resort has been created to make you feel like a true islander, which is what ‘Zilwa’ means in Creole. Not only does Zilwa offer local delicacies, it also serves Indian, Chinese and European cuisine to reflect the diversity of the island. Each of the restaurants offers a new taste experience, whilst many also offer special cooking evenings where you can try your hand at cooking authentic Creole cuisine, and enjoy it afterwards. What really set Zilwa apart are its experiences; it really runs with the islander vibe and makes sure you’re doing things that offer a taste of the real Mauritius. You can enjoy dinner at a local home with the family, take a Creole language lesson or explore a Mauritian bazaar.

Accommodation

Set in crescent-shaped buildings facing the sea, the rustic rooms are chic with rough-hewn walls, wax-coated floors and driftwood-inspired furniture. Rooms are also patriotic with the red, blue, and yellow and green of the Mauritian flag featuring. There's also Creole riddles on the wall, as well as art work and poetry inspired by Mauritian artist, Malcolm de Chazal. Pink and purple flip flops make a useful room gift. The Privilege Suites have a whirlpool tub on the balcony. There are also three categories of family rooms.

Dining and Drinks

The buffet restaurant serves a mix of dishes, including plenty of Mauritian and Creole specialties. There’s also an a la carte right on the beach, and a lunchtime barbecue place on one of the private islands.

Two show cooking restaurants open their doors for dinner, and there’s a snack bar for afternoon tea. The hotel can also arrange for you to have a home-cooked meal with a local family.

Lor Disab beach restaurant

Lor Disab translates to 'right on the beach' which sums this place up perfectly. With your feet in the sand tuck into light lunches and tasty evening meals. Just so you know, at dinner time this restaurant is for adults only.

Karay buffet restaurant

Breakfast is served as a buffet with a selection of pastries, brioche and fruit. At dinner time expect a different themed buffet spread each evening.

Slaw restaurant

The chef here is a wok specialist preparing dishes with noodles, rice and aromatic herbs and spices. Slaw is open for dinner 6 evenings a week

Taba-J snack bar

For a really rustic taste of Mauritius, pick up a light meal of pancakes, curry-of-the-day or rice dish from this kiosk-style snack bar.

Sate restaurant

The food here has an Indonesian flavor so expect seafood, fish and chicken with a little hint of spice. Open for dinner 6 days a week.

Grand Zil restaurant

This place is located on a private island - you can visit it as part of an excursion organized by the hotel. Food-wise, you can expect barbecued meat and fish.

Wellness

Vilaz Masaz by Spa Attitude, our eco-friendly Spa with its herb garden, is situated in a very exotic environment. It welcomes its guests in wooden huts sheltering 10 massage rooms: 6 double rooms and 4 single rooms; a hammam, a Watsu pool and a fountain of ice.

Its care rituals are based on genuine natural elements of Mauritius: its soil, its sea, its sun and its plants…

• Zilwa means ‘islander’ in Creole, and there are loads of activities that’ll teach you how – take Creole language or cooking classes, visit local markets or head out for a sunrise fishing trip with a local.
• The kids’ club is set in a huge sailing boat – it’s the starting point for private island treasure hunts. As for water sports,
  there are things like windsurfing, pedal boating and diving to try out.

Kids

At the mini club, "Ayo The Dodo", our famous dodo bird dressed up as a gentle pirate, is waiting for your children on its boat situated right at the entrance or will accompany them on a treasure hunt on Crusoe’s island.

At the mini club, from 09h00 to 21h00, under the supervision of experienced and caring Family Members, children between the age of 3 and 12, to their great joy, are kept entertained, having fun and being creative.

The hotel also offers a day and evening baby-sitting service upon request, at extra cost. 24 hour prior bookings at the reception or at the mini club.
