Welcome to Massinga Beach, Mozambique

In the Inhambane Province of Mozambique, Massinga Beach sits above a stretch of endless, remarkably private beach overlooking the azure Indian Ocean. Far from the madding crowd and offering barefoot luxury, the Lodge caters for honeymooners, romantics, families and those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A Beach Bar and pool nestled right at the edge of the warm sea provide comfort, and drinks to sun-lovers. Nearby the boulders that have been artistically chiselled by the elements provide a unique feature and shade for secluded picnics.

Comfort is a priority in the Ocean Front Deluxe rooms that open onto an intimate deck and splash pool from which to absorb the 180°view of the coastline. The Ocean View Junior Suites, also with unimpeded views of the sea, are designed with families in mind.

Beach Weddings in this unique setting is an ideal beginning of a perfect marriage; one where your honeymoon begins the moment you say "I do."

Various beach games, kayaking, table tennis and pool table are available at the beach bar. Snorkelling and rock-fishing are available nearby.

In season, you can even view whales frolicking from your own deck whilst sipping exotic cocktails. Later, the night sky lights up and you feel like reaching out to catch the falling stars.

Massinga Beach is accessible by daily flights to Inhambane. The lodge provides airport transfers whilst self-drive is possible on a good paved road from Maputo to Massinga.The last 10kms is on a scenic sand road and suitable for 4x4 vehicles. Parking is available upon request in Massinga Town at a nominal daily rate.

16 Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms

Spacious en suite with a 180 deg sea view, front deck, private splash pool, sun loungers; extra length king-bed, luxury linen, wrap around mosquito net curtain, bath robe, room safe, stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning. Bathroom with direct access to deck has a freestanding bath, rain shower, separate toilet and luxury guest amenities.

12 Ocean View Chalets

A double bedroom with a 180 degree ocean view, air conditioning, extra length king-bed, luxury linen, wrap around mosquito net curtain, bath robe, room safe, and a bathroom with freestanding bath, rain shower, separate toilet and luxury guest amenities. A lounge with furnished deck and a 180 degree ocean view; sleeper couches, stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilites, fan & and separate shower/toilet.

Activities

Deep Sea Fishing on a Benguerra 530 with centre consol Cat, two 85 hp Yamaha motors and suitable for 4 fishermen. Skipper and crew provided. Yamaha motors and suitable for 4 fishermen. Fishing off the beach at Massinga Beach is surf launch and dependant upon tide and weather conditions Outsourced fishing is available.

Catches include:

Big kingfish (Giant, Big eye, Blue fin, Dusky, Tropical, Yellow fin and three spot), Job fish. King Mackerel, Wahoo, Barracuda, Tuna (Bonito, Yellow fin), Dorado (Dolphin fish), needle scale queen fish, Natal Snoek

Main seasons:

Wahoo - end of winter. King Mackerel - winter. Tuna - summer. Dorado - end of winter. Natal snoek - winter. Kingfish – summer. Marlin – summer. Sailfish - end of summer.

Weddings

Wedding guests will be well catered for in the Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms (Single or Double occupancy) OR Ocean View Junior Chalets. A Beach Bar and pool right at the edge of the warm sea is a stunning setting for a beach wedding with all the comforts, a restaurant, bar, decking, shade and ablutions to accommodate 60 people.

The Ceremony

Legalities of your wedding must be taken care of in the country of residence. The ceremony at the Lodge may be conducted by family members or friends although the Lodge Manager may also conduct your ceremony.
