In the north of Zanzibar Island, a short walk from the busy centre of Nungwi village, Flame Tree Cottages is located in extensive pretty gardens along a lovely stretch of soft, white-sand beach. It's a pleasant guesthouse with varied accommodation, owned by a Zanzibari-Scottish couple.
There’s a sparkling turquoise swimming pool in the gardens, and a small clearing where yoga classes are offered.
Flame Tree Cottages has 15 whitewashed rooms, including three family rooms, and a honeymoon suite, all spread out in the gardens beside the beach. Each has a large veranda with cushioned easy chairs, and colonial-style arches to frame the view of the gardens.
Our chef provides snacks during the day and dinner in the evenings with a half board option if required. A cooked breakfast is served on your own private veranda or if you prefer in our garden restaurant.
Snacks can either be served on your own veranda, in the sunbathing area or at the restaurant and are available daily. Evening meals are prepared to order by our resident chef and can be served on a table up near the sea with candles for a romantic touch.
We have a daily “Specials Board”. Dinners are freshly prepared and served at our beachfront restaurant so that you can dine to the sound of the waves.
If on the rare occasion the weather is inclement, we are fortunate enough to be able to serve dinner in the equally tranquil and enjoyable garden restaurant.
The tranquility of the beach restaurant ensures a pleasant and memorable dining experience.
Parasailing, Kite Surfing and Deep Sea Fishing are available locally and can be booked nearby.
The local Turtle Sanctuary is a short walk down the beach where the dhow builders can be seen practicing their centuries old craft.
You can experience daily morning and sunset yoga sessions on the rooftop overlooking the ocean with the most beautiful sunsets.
There are no age restrictions at Flame Tree Cottages. There are various games such as badminton and boules for older children to enjoy.
