Just a snowball’s throw from the legendary Kitzbuhel, the St. Johann Ski Resort makes for amazing family vacations. The varied skiable terrain, a terrain park, and cozy on-mountain lodges assure that any type of skier and rider will have a truly enjoyable experience. Little ones can ski with St. Johann’s beloved mascot, “Valle” the living snowman.
Well known for reliable snowfall and consistently good snow conditions, the tiny St. Johann Ski Resort offers a small-scale yet friendly day on the slopes. Situated on the northern slope of Kitzbuhel Horn Peak, the varied terrain of wide-open blue and red trails makes it a family favorite. One of its highlights for expert skiers is a 3.5-kilometer long black trail that drops down 1,000 meters and serves up beautiful views. The highest elevation in the resort is Harschbichl at an elevation of 1,600 meters above sea level and can be accessed using three different lifts. Running parallel to Lower Harschbichlbahn Gondola, the Fun Slope is an extremist's dream with kickers, banked run and turns. With wide, gentle trails and free practice lifts, there’s plenty of room for kiddies and new skiers to get things off to the right start at a relaxed pace. The ski school’s kiddie beloved mascot named “Valle” is the ideal way to ensure the kids become lifelong powder lovers—and he’s always ready for a hug.
The town has a long history and retains its traditional feel despite some recent modernization.The ski area is relatively small, with just 42km of pistes in the immediate ski area. The high proportion of blue runs means the St Johann ski area is well suited to beginners, though confident intermediates and advanced skiers will quickly exhaust the ski area within a day or two. Lift passes for more than two days therefore cover a range of ski areas, so hiring a car is recommended – there is certainly huge mileage on offer nearby including in the SkiWelt and the KitzSki ski area. Advanced skiers can also take advantage of the ski touring options in the nearby Wilder Kaiser.The resort, which is easily accessible from several major airports, has limited après-ski, though there are a handful of restaurants for visitors wishing to explore beyond their hotel. The food on the mountain is quite remarkable, however, with some of the Tirol’s most characterful mountain restaurants, including the Angereralm which is run by the President of the Austrian Somelier Association.
Welcome Dinner
After a long journey there is nothing better than a pre organized dinner. No hassles, no cooking, just walk in, eat & off to bed or the nearest bar, the choice is yours. Here at the Gastof Baron you can meet the resort representatives other guests on tour & find out the plan for the next day and what exciting adventures lie ahead for the week.
Tobogganing & Dinner
Again we meet at Max’s dress in ski gear where we will collect our toboggans. From here we make our way on foot to the night toboggan chair lift. This will take us to the start of the toboggan run. After a traditional dinner at Kramer-Hof we make our way back to St Johann down the illuminated toboggan track. For those not in the toboggan spirit we will have a taxi on standby to transport any guests down to where the toboggan track ends. Dinner includes: Three course meal. No drinks.
Bum Boarding & Dinner
Tonight we meet at Max Pub dressed in ski gear for a drink (own account). From here we will be collected by taxi and taken to the mountain hut. This is the start of the bum boarding action. Once the slope ends we make our way into Grandersschupf for a delicious dinner. If you thought snow would not get into some spots in your ski suit think again. Make trains, or ride alone a great snow activity for all ages. Dinner includes: Three course meal. No drinks.
Ski Bobbing & Dinner
For this activity we meet in the afternoon to make the last gondola & head up to top station. Here we enjoy a drink (own account) & watch the beautiful Alpine sun set. Before dark we make our way to Pointenhof for a typical mountain hut dinner, stopping along the way to admire the amazing surroundings. Then after dinner & a few drinks to build up some courage, we set off once again on our Ski Bobs back to St Johann following the tour guides who have head lamps on their heads to lead the way. Dinner includes: Three course meal. No drinks.
Farewell Dinner
Farewell Dinner – At the end of a great holiday we have our farewell dinner evening. This is a fun evening reminiscing the moments of your snow holiday experience and saying a last good bye to new friends. After dinner the farewell festivities can continue in Max Pub or any of the surrounding bars. Dinner includes: Three course meal. No drink
