At Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar, you will be greeted by a blaze of color as you sweep down the imposing driveway, saluted by a Masai warrior as you pass through the entrance gate and be captivated as you arrive in reception and look out over the resort and the azure blue sea. Designed as a traditional African roundhouse but featuring all the creature comforts you could need, our rooms and suites are truly unrivalled. Set in 6.5 hectares of serene and colorful gardens, leading to a white sandy beach and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, each room is indeed an idyllic setting.
Nestled under a pitched makuti roof, each room is sea facing with large patio doors that open up to a private balcony, where you can sit and take in the sedate pace of African life.
Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar features three restaurants that offer the finest food in Zanzibar, using only the best in local and imported produce.
The Ocean Restaurant
The Ocean Restaurant, sitting two floors up, has panoramic views over the resort and the Indian Ocean beyond. The Restaurant serves a sumptuous breakfast with an array of freshly baked breads, croissants and Danish pastries, cereals, fresh squeezed juices, local fruits, cold cuts and cheeses and of course, traditional cooked dishes. In the evening, the mood changes, with soft lighting, candles and an extensive themed buffet which changes daily.
Jahazi Restaurant
Down at the pool, the Jahazi Restaurant serves a variety of snacks and the best wood-fired pizzas in Zanzibar. The menu offers an a la carte selection of international and authentic Zanzibari dishes.
Mawimbi Restaurant
Set on a stunning beachfront location, Mawimbi Restaurant serves sumptuous Zanzibar Fusion cuisine. Incorporating traditional Zanzibar ingredients with Asian and western influences this is the perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner.
Each day, there is something different to keep you entertained. From traditional African dancers, acrobats and our resident band, to big screen sports broadcasts and sports competitions.
Ocean Paradise Spa has 4 treatment rooms including rooms for couples. Services include deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, Swedish massages, and Thai massages. The spa is equipped with a sauna, a spa tub, and a steam room.
The spa is open daily. Children under 13 years old are not allowed in the spa without adult supervision.
The hotel has a very large and well-maintained pool (one of the largest on the island) where one can relax on the sun-loungers or swim. The resort overlooks a large and quiet stretch of beach. Be warned that seaweed farming takes place in this area and you are likely to encounter locals gathering in the crop. This means that stretches of the beach near here can get very weedy. However, there are still plenty of good spots for bathing (at high tide) and exploring the reefs.
Many water-sports are on offer. The resort has an onsite PADI dive specialist who will help organize scuba courses for those wishing to dive on the reefs. There is also kayaking, wind-surfing and snorkeling on offer.
The resort has an activity centre which includes table tennis, beach volleyball and billiards. Hotel staff often organize competitions which are a great way to meet other guests and make friends.
The Guest Relations manager at the resort will happily organize excursions to Stone Town, Prison Island, spice plantations or the Jozani Forest. However, in the area around the resort there is little to do and guests are largely expected to keep to the resort’s private facilities and beach.

For smaller meetings our boardroom can accommodate 20 people.
